Is pre-registration necessary?
Pre-registration is not required; however, pre-registration allows us to plan for adequate print material and seating at our presentations. Registration links for the presentations are located at the top of this page.
Is there an alternate date in the event of inclement weather?
No, an alternate date is not scheduled. Please understand that building availability, as well as exhibitor and volunteer staff availability needs to be reserved well in advance. We will be open unless there is a severe safety concern. In the event that we cannot continue as planned, please check this page, our website page or our Facebook page for announcements.
Do we have to be a U-46 family to attend?
The Resource Fair is open to the general public! We welcome everyone and anyone to attend. Our exhibitors span Kane, Cook and DuPage Counties, making this a great regional event.
Are children welcome?
Yes! This is a family-friendly event. Please bring the entire family!
Is child care available?
Very limited care for your special needs child may be available during the Fair with U-46 volunteer staff. Priority will be given to children with exceptional needs - we only have about 10 slots available.
All applicants must be presently enrolled in a U-46 Special Education program. This request does not guarantee child care on the day of the event. The Special Education Department will decide if your child qualifies for special needs care during the resource fair. Acceptance will be based on the need of the child, caregiver (teacher) availability and number of applicants for this service.
Please see Application for S/N Childcare above to apply, or call (847) 888-5000, ext. 5065. You will be notified if your request has been approved or denied ahead of the Resource Fair. Absolutely no walk-in service will be available.
Are translation services available for Spanish speakers?
Yes, translators will be on-site. To make sure we have adequate staffing, we require those needing translation services to reserve in advance. Please use the Request Accommodations for Special Services link above, or call (847) 888-5000, ext. 5065.
What are my parking options at the Fair?
Parking is plentiful in the parking lot in front of South Elgin HIgh School.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (847) 888-5000, ext. 5065.
When & Where
CAC Special Education Committee / U-46 Special Education Department
Welcome to the CAC Special Education Committee!
The goal of the Citizens' Advisory Council (CAC) is to advise and assist the Board of Education and Administration in the ongoing effort to provide the best possible educational opportunities for the students of School District U-46. For over half a century, citizen and parent volunteers that live within U-46 boundaries have served as liaisons between their schools, the CAC, and the school district. We identify our children's needs and bring ideas to the District.
The CAC Special Education Committee acts as a resource for parents of students in special education or those receiving special services/support by providing information and resources; the committee also works to provide opportunities for parent engagement. We work in partnership with the administrative staff of the Special Education Department of U-46.
