Event Details

We’ve all heard the challenges that occurred with Super Storm Sandy …and have probably wondered what WE would do when a major catastrophe strikes here.

Come learn from Justin Dombrowski, Director, Response DivisionFEMA/DHS Region IX, Anne Reynolds, the American Red Cross Disaster Officer for California and Nevada and others as they share their experience responding to Super Storm Sandy and key lessons we should consider in Marin. Also, find out what County agencies have in place to respond.

Join your neighboring agencies to map who's out there, identify nearby resources and gaps, and explore ways to help and support each other.  During a major disaster, your neighbors may become your new best friends, so why not start now?

Program will include:

Keynote:  Justin Dombrowski, Director, Response Division FEMA/DHS Region IX

  • Justin Dombrowski - comments on key resource and infrastructure issues (fuel, power, transportation)
  • Anne Reynolds - American Red Cross Mass Care Chief for New York for Super Storm Sandy
  • Alissa May - perspective on local organizations’ participation from the Director of Volunteer and Youth Services, American Red Cross, Bay Area
  • Ursula Hanks - County’s plans, Marin County Office of Emergency Services

Questions and Answers, with response from Panelists and local agency and organization representatives (including FEMA, CalEMA, Marin County Health and Human Services and others)

Local BreakoutSessions—opportunities for you to meet with your neighboring agencies and identify the most crucial needs you’ll face in a catastrophic disaster and what exists locally to meet them.  Discover the local resources, gaps and ways you can support and help each other to make it through. Leave with valued new connections, expaded awareness of your and others’ resources and needs, and a leg-up for your own planning.

Closing Session: Quick and Dirty Personal Preparedness Tips-Frank Cox-County Emergency Services Auxiliary
