Event Details

Grand Festival - Saturday's Grand Tasting will showcase over 70 phenomenal producers of pinot noir. Consumers will be able to sample up to 150 pinots from every important domestic pinot noir region, from the Russian River Valley to Oregon, Carneros to the Santa Lucia Highlands, the Anderson Valley to the Sonoma Coast. Attendees will have access to pinots previously unavailable in Illinois. Local specialty food purveyors will serve delectables that pair well with pinot. Click HERE for more details.

Grand Festival VIP Early Access And Tour - This VIP ticket will allow you to enter Saturday's Grand Festival two hours early, at 10:30am, to experience a rare clonal tasting and blending seminar, and a Valleys Tasting Tour of two famed pinot valleys, the Russian River Valley and the Willamette Valley.  The Valleys Tasting will be led by two regional experts (both equipped with charm, good stories and first-hand, "insider" regional knowledge), "touring" six famed wineries within each of the Valleys.  Taste how diverse pinot can be!  By listening to your illustrious guide and tasting from six producers within the featured Valley, you will learn the region's characteristics very well, tasting the wines and meeting a few of the region's celebrated winemakers.  The Clonal Study will be led by Davis Bynum's very gifted winemaker, Greg Morthole.  This is a rare chance to taste grapes from the same vineyard, the same year, each derived from a different pinot noir clone, and then to experience the effects of blending them.  This process will give you insider insight into the winemaking process, and wow you with the complexity and romance of it.  For the last half hour you can roam the festival and taste any of the 60 featured wineries in an intimate setting. The public will be admitted at 1pm, and you are free to stay and taste until our 5pm closing.  This is a very special opportunity to go deep with pinot and the legendary folks whose winemaking has put it on the map.   Click HERE for more details.

Winemakers Dinner at Uncommon Ground Award winning Executive Chef Brian Millman will present food pairings for each Pinot producer. Enjoy phenomenal wine and food in an ideal environment for doing both! Uncommon Ground has recently been named Best New Restaurant in Chicago Magazine and Time Out Chicago. Their organic rooftop garden (from which they create incredible dishes) has attracted even the Mayor s notice, and earned them countless accolades, including their official title as "The First Certified Organic Roof Top Farm in the Country. This pinot-paired appetizers and four-course dinner will be one for the archives, and this dinner is one not to miss. Click HERE for more details.

Winemakers Dinner at Aria Restaurant at the Fairmont, Millennium Park- Enjoy an incredible, pinot-paired dinner and eighteen different pinots, as well as the colorful, gifted winemakers who create them.  We'll begin with six producers pouring to you in a walk about setting while small delectables are passed, and then sit down to a four-course, pinot-focused dinner, each course paired with two pinots.  The winemakers will move seats with every course so that they are able to share their stories with attendees.    Click HERE for more details.

Pinot Days

Pinot Days is a non-profit dedicated to the promotion of one of our very favorite things – domestic pinot noir. The majority of the producers Pinot Days features fall into the “boutique” category; they are not big corporations with their own marketing teams.Rather, the winemaker and/or the winery owner often make up the entire staff and thus, they are limited in their ability to bring their beautiful wines to you, the interested wine lover. That’s where Pinot Days comes in!

Pinot Days is a wine event that celebrates pinot noir in its many styles, ranging from modern to earthy to elegant. Unlike wine events that appeal to a narrow customer base featuring wines more alike than different, Pinot Days brings together pinot producers representing every California pinot style, appellation and price point, as well as a number of pinots from Oregon, Germany, New Zealand and Burgundy. Pinot Days also celebrates the passionate people who make pinot noir, which is no easy variety of grape with which to contend, but one that has the innate ability to surpass all other grape varieties.Pinot Days will enable you to explore new producers, find wines you love and can afford, and become a pinot devotee if you are not one already.

From the Grand Festival to the Winemakers Dinner to the more intimate tastings, each of the Pinot Days events will be educational, stimulating and fun. Our goal is to make each event accessible to everyone by keeping the costs reasonable and the attitude casual. Pinot Days will never become an elitist event affordable only to the rich, nor will it become an “insider” event accessible only to industry folks and pinot geeks like us. Rather, we invite insiders to come and enjoy, and we encourage those new to pinot noir – those of you who do not yet know the depth, breadth and sheer loveliness of our noblest grape – to come and taste for yourselves. And meet the winemakers, who are some of the most interesting, passionate, gifted and colorful people we know.We hope to see you there.
