This 5k run/walk is a fundraiser for the Bay Area Ballers Youth Foundation, Inc. which has been in existence since 1994. Our foundation is a mentoring program that helps kids learn life skills through academic and athletic programs. We teach life skills such as time management, working with others, work ethic, professionalism and conflict resolution as well as training student-athletes to compete athletically on the college level. Over the course of the last 20 years of our existence, our organization has helped student-athletes secure over $1.5 million in athletic and academic scholarships. We use our resources to help our student-athletes with tutoring and academic prep classes as well as defraying the costs for their participation and travel to athletic competitions. All entry fees, raffle tickets or donations are tax deductible.
Each paid fee or donation of at least $50 will also receive 1 raffle ticket and a participation gift bag. The raffle will be held at the conclusion of the run/walk. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each or 3 for $10.
Beats by Dre headphones
A pair of Nike running shoes
Movie tickets for 2
Gift card to Whole Foods
We may also be adding to the raffle prizes so that we will have more winners.
When & Where
Founder/Director of Bay Area Ballers Youth Foundation, Inc.
I founded this program to give back and to help kids. I grew up in a very rough neighborhood in Southern California and most of my friends never made it to college, ended up in jail or met an untimely death. I was blessed to have my basketball coach raise me like one his sons. He gave me the tools and the belief in myself to want better for my life. He inspired me to go to college and to travel a path different from what many young men in my neighborhood chose. His belief in me paid off; I have a BA in Sociology from San Jose State, a Masters in Physical Education & Recreation from St. Mary's College and I am currently working on my Masters in Sports Psychology from Cappela University. I founded the Bay Area Ballers to pay it forward and to help kids from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. We have successfully helped over a 100 young men get to college during our twenty years of existence. We have been able to stay in existence because of community support and I'm hoping that you will support our 5K Run/Walk with either participating or by making a tax deductible donation.
