5/13 #CLTweetup with @OperaCarolina
Friday, May 13, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
We’ve had early mornings at Dilworth Billiards, cupcake eating contests and playtime with our pets. We thought long and hard about how we could possibly top all of these events…at first it didn’t seem likely. But we’re pretty sure our May event will be one of our best yet!
Are you ready to get interactive? We hope so because this month we are hosting an Interactive Onstage Experience at the Belk Theater hosted by Opera Carolina and Bravo (@BravoCharlotte), Opera Carolina's Young Professionals. Yup, that’s right.
With the backdrop being the actual set of the opera "HMS Pinafore," we'll mix and mingle onstage enjoying complimentary wine, beer, bottled water and light munchies while listening to music performed by a live guitarist.
Activities will include:
- A “Pinafore Makeover” – Costumes and makeup from an Opera Carolina production will be provided to attendees to try on.
- An “Onstage Wii” Tournament – Games will include Just Dance and Rock Band (or Guitar Hero). Who will get the highest score??
- Live Music
- Backstage Tour – The Director of Production will be on site to welcome us and offer a backstage/onstage tour to anyone who wants to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.
- Food/Beverage – Complimentary wine, beer, and water; snacks provided.
CHARITY PARTNER: Opera Carolina, a non-profit arts organization presenting three main stage productions and acclaimed Education & Outreach Programs that reach more than 75,000 citizens in North Carolina, South Carolina and northern Georgia each year.
Entrance: All attendees must enter through the Back Stage Door entrance of the Belk Theater. The entrance is located on College Street between 5th & Trade Sts. There is a large sign above the glass doors that says “Back Stage Door.”
Parking: Parking is free on the streets (as long as it is a valid parking space) in Center City after 6pm. There is parking on College St. after 7th Street. In addition, Opera Carolina will be able to purchase a parking pass at the theater, that day, for $3 (cash only) to park at the Dunhill Hotel parking deck. The Dunhill is less than one block away from the theater. Attendees would park as usual and take the ticket given and then purchase the pass at the theater. When leaving the Dunhill deck, they would present the original ticket and the purchased ticket to exit.
No refunds are available. You may transfer your ticket. We only ask that you notify CLTweetup so we know who to expect that evening. Thanks!
