2014 Sweetheart Cotillion

Greetings,

Allow this letter to introduce myself as a 2014 debutante in the John. C Vaughn cotillion. This event is organized to rally funding for college scholarships while also imparting the wisdom of fine etiquette and strategies of success to its participants. My name is Nedra Yore, daughter of Krystal Yore and granddaughter of Pastel Yore. I aspire to attain my dental degree becoming a dentist who forges new technology within the industry. Currently, I’m in my junior year at an all honors high school in Illinois. In my three years I have participated in many school and community activities:

• Chicago Museum of Science and Industry Science Minor

• Student Council
• Newspaper entertainment columnist
• 1st Place winner of Proviso Idol Talent Search 2012
• Fellowship in songs of praise to the sick, shut-in and bereaved
• PLCCA Hook a Kid on Golf
• Vice President of NSBE Jr. Chicagoland Chapter (National Society of Black Engineers)

These programs were enjoyed while maintaining academic continuity and overcoming some of life’s personal challenges in health and family.

I ask for your support in my fundraising efforts through ticket purchase, placing an ad to promote your business in the events souvenir program book, sponsorship, or making a donation. It has been my dream to be a part of the cotillion for many years. This year the occasion will be held at noon on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 at the Westin Hotel O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois. Contributions are greatly appreciated and I will be greatly honored by your presence. Checks can be made payable to the John C. Vaughn Scholarship Fund. To further honor those helping me attain my financial fundraising goal I will donate an hour of community service in the name of financial contributors who also attend the gala.

My cotillion escort is Juwuane Johnson, son of and Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Johnson. Juwuane was selected in 2012 as a People to People Student Ambassador to Europe. He joined a delegation of students on a 20-day educational program that visited Italy, France and Greece.
