Wishes of Literacy is a non profit organization that was formed in 2010 to help children with Dyslexia and similar Reading & Learning Differences.
Statistics tell us 1 in 10 children have dyslexia! Despite having average or above average intelligence, dyslexic children cannot learn to read in the traditional methods. These children require a specific type of instruction to learn to read successfully. The inability to read affects our children academically, socially, and emotionally.
Therefore, our mission is threefold: to raise awareness of dyslexia; to help parents and teachers through workshops, education, and support; and to help the children by bringing programs into our communities and into our schools. Eventually we hope to start a school specifically designed to support the learning needs and styles of children with dyslexia and other learning differences.
Each and every one of our children deserves the right to read.
