Paolo Sebastian presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide & Unley - Runway 1

Paolo Sebastian will open the 2018 Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide & Unley with a collection inspired by the revered works of Russian composer Tchaikovsky, in company with a live score by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

The couture house’s Autumn/Winter 2018-19 collection The Nutcracker holds true to the label’s essence; the creation of a grand narrative through meticulously crafted couture.

Drawing on Tchaikovsky’s acclaimed masterpiece, the iconic scores of The Nutcracker will be brought to life through vision and sound; the dreamlike realms of the tale will be shown through delicate embroideries illustrating the Kingdom of the Dolls, the Land of the Flowers and more, while the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will recreate the timeless sounds of the renowned ballet.

Textures of opulent wool cashmere, French tulle and silk chiffon in tones of glacier blue, sugar plum, frost white and garnet are adorned with intricate hand-sewn snowflakes, floral motifs, and delicate crystal embellishments, demonstrating designer Paul Vasileff’s attention to detail and craftsmanship in his seventeenth collection.
