Hangout Day Weekend Brings over 20 NFL Players to South Florida for a Free Youth Football Camp
North Miami Beach, FL – For the 5th year in a row NFL’s Washington Redskins player E.J. Biggers and AFL’s Portland Thunder player Max Jean-Gilles have teamed up with the Stars of Tomorrow Non-Profit Organization for the Annual Hangout Day Weekend which will be taking place on July 18 - 19, 2014 in the City of North Miami Beach. This weekend of events will include the 3rd Annual Hangout Day Celebrity Charity Basketball Game held at North Miami Beach Senior High School located at 1247 NE 167th Street in North Miami Beach with NFL players, celebrities, and other well-known personalities on Friday evening from 6PM – 11PM and the 5th Annual NFL Youth Football and Cheerleading Clinic held at Patricia A Mishcon Athletic Field located at 16501 NE 15th Avenue in North Miami Beach with over 20 NFL players and 5 professional cheerleaders on Saturday from 8AM – 3PM.
Each year over 20 current and previous NFL players from all across the league come together a week before training camp begins to donate their time by teaching South Florida youth who idolize them the importance of discipline, education, and the ability to balance their time as a student athlete. Among this year’s participants are Louis Delmas of the Miami Dolphins, Arrelious Benn of the Philadelphia Eagles, Preston Parker of the New York Giants, Montell Owens of the Detroit Lions, Ricky Jean-Francois of the Indianapolis Colts, Johnathan Cyprien of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kemal Ishmael of the Atlanta Falcons and Anthony Gaitor, Major Wright, and Mason Foster all of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“This event is growing bigger and bigger. With this being our 5th year we want to take this entire weekend of events to another level. This year we have surprises that are definitely going to leave event attendees speechless. This generation of youth holds athletes and other celebrities that they see on television in such high esteem. If my friends and I are role models, then we have no choice but to be proactive about it” says Max Jean- Gilles, co-founder of Hangout Day.
Not only focused on the abilities of student athletes, this weekend of events which attracts over 2,000 people will provide the community with health screenings, free food, live entertainment, school supplies, and a lot more. Last year, Udonis Haslem from the NBA’s Miami Heat National Championship Team was one of many who surprised the crowd by attending this event.
