Event Details

A SPECIAL SHOWING OF THE 1957 CLASSIC WESTERN FILM --  "3:10 TO YUMA", STARRING GLENN FORD & VAN HEFLIN.

PLUS A SPECIAL PRE-MOVIE DISCUSSION WITH PETER FORD, SON OF LEGENDARY ACTOR GLENN FORD.

The evening kicks off at 6:30pm with an outdoor reception at The Loft Cinema. At 7pm, enter the theatre and enjoy a conversation with Peter Ford, son of the actor Glenn Ford. As the only son of Glenn Ford and dance icon Eleanor Powell, Peter has unique insight into one of America’s most famous Hollywood couples. His memory is further enhanced by the release of his highly acclaimed book about his father, called,  “Glen Ford: A Life”. Peter’s wife, Lynda Ford, an actor and stuntwoman in her own right, will also be a guest speaker.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Green Valley Pecan Co.

ABOUT THE FILM"3:10 to Yuma”, directed by Delmer Daves, is a taut, suspenseful film -- considered by many to be one of the great Western Classics.

Glenn Ford (Ben Wade) is a ruthless criminal who has been captured, and Van Heflin (Dan Evans) is the stubborn rancher who intends to take Ford to the Yuma train station so he can be transferred to await trial. Ford attempts to talk Heflin into letting him go, and the two engage in a riveting psychological war of wills as Ford's gang attempts to break him free.

When first released on August 7, 1957, "3:10 to Yuma" was popular among audiences and critics alike for its suspenseful nature and sharp black & white cinematography. Ford received particular notice for his against-type villainous performance. "3:10 to Yuma" was nominated for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for Best Film and the Lauren Award for Top Male Action Star, which went to Van Heflin. The title song, “3:10 to Yuma”, was sung by Frankie Laine.

While the film was well received on release and is still highly regarded today, last year the film received further acclaim when it was entered into the National Film Registry.
