The 2ND ANNUAL WINOS FOR RHINOS event Sunday August 18, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at the Wine Bar in Rocky River, Ohio. Join us for 5 wine tastings and hors d'oeuvres along with live entertainment , silent auction, and special local rhino created door prizes . Tickets are $50 per person and proceeds benefit Rhinos sanctuaries in Africa, Asia, and Indonesia to help save Rhinos and their habitat.
Having existed for more than 50 million years, rhinos are now struggling for their survival. In fact, the world’s rhino population has decreased 90 % since 1970 due to poaching. Rhinos are being killed for their horns which find an eager market in many Asian countries due to the belief that powdered horn can cure anything from cancer to a hangover. Rhino horn is made of keratin (like fingernails and hair) and has no scientific evidence of any medicinal properties; however rhino poaching continues, increasing 3000% since 2007.
