Each year, 650 children are diagnosed with cancer at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
In May 2009 at age 11, our daughter, Presley Boydstun, was one of those children. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Philadephia +, a rare form of ALL that effects less than 3% of pediatric ALL patients.
For nearly 18 months, she endured intense in-patient chemotherapy treatment at TCH and another 18 months of outpatient treatment. During that three year span, we saw the direct physical, psychological, and social impact that cancer has on children and their families first hand.
Now almost five years since diagnosis, Presley is a healthy, happy 16 year old sophomore in high school. And now it is The Boydstun’s quest to help those that have been diagnosed or will be diagnosed in the future.
In 2012, Team Presley joined forces with Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and created the first Outreach Chapter here in Houston. Together, we are committed to raising awareness and funds to support patients being treated at Texas Children’s Hospital.
We are asking for your support by doing something everyone loves to do: Play Golf.
It will be a day of food & fun “fore”awareness and funds that directly benefits Texas Children’s Hospital and their patients.
We will be displaying some of the programs we are funding and have special attendees and speakers that will inspire you to support Team Presley & Bear Necessities.
