This contract-readiness training program is a 8 Week Course that will provide small business owners a comprehensive approach to managing, operating, and growing their business. Information provided will help participants better understand the key components of a successful business, and what contract providers look for in a qualified firm. As a result, the workshop will equip each entrepreneur with the tools necessary to help him or her develop the skills and competency required to successfully run their business.

Week I: How to Develop a Capability Statement (For Your Business)

How to develop your Capability Statement?

Key components of a Capability Statement? Who uses them?

Describing your products or services.

Developing your elevator pitch.

Exploring the primary reason(s) why you are in business?

Developing vision and mission statements.

Identifying your NAICS Codes.

Setting up and obtaining your DUN & BRADSTREET Number and Cage Codes.

Interactive exercise to help business owners develop their Capability Statement.


Small Business Planning and Program Management

Week 2: Business Compliance & Best Practices / Developing Your Business Infrastructure

Exploring the four (4) key areas in which a business owner must demonstrate competency.

Conducting a physical on your business to determine if it measures up. 

Giving your business a tune-up [reviewing best practices and ensuring compliance].

 Developing your business infrastructure.

 Reviewing your business’ legal structure and ensuring that the owner(s) has all required documents contract-providers need.

 Setting up your Company Profile.

 Describing your company.

 Defining your management plan.

 Setting goals and objectives.

 SWOT Analysis.  Establishing milestones and conducting evaluations.


Week 3: Certifications

Week 4: Procurement and Contract-readiness

Week 5: How to Develop a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) and Presentation

Week 6: Cash Flow Management

Understanding the 3 key financial documents in your business.

Tips on how to make banks want to do business with you.

What are the two methods of accounting, and which one do you use in your business?

Week 7: Bookkeeping & Buy/Sell Agreements

 How to track banking, sales, payables, payroll, inventory, and run reports.

Tracking expenses, costs, and preparing payroll.

Preparing estimates and invoices. 

How to set-up Buy/Sell Agreements and why it’s important to your Business & Family.


PLEASE NOTE: This program will include a segment that will work with the Business Owners to assist in preparing a Business Loan package to be presented to partner banks, additionally the Certification segment will include meeting Corporate and Government buyers for an  opportunity to present your product or service!
