Coaches Expo registration deadline is September 4, 2014. Deadline dates allow us to process information and packets for all attendees.
Special Olympics Texas - Area 4 will host a Coaches Training Expo on Saturday, September 6, 2014. There is no cost to become certified other than your time.
There are 2 parts to the coaches training, please review as follows:
- The theory part teaches you about Special Olympics Texas Information Guide (SIG) and is required for new coaches.
- The clinical part teaches you about the specific sport and is taken whenever someone wants to become certified to coach that specific sport.
A practicum of 10 hours is required after the coaches training to complete the certification process.
All coaches must be Class A volunteers which requires a completed volunteer A form and completion of the General Orientation/Protective Behavior Quiz.

If you take this online Unified Sports Training you will become certified to coach Unified Sports once you submit your 10 Coaching Practicum, you will receive a certificate of completion emailed to you after your complete the training you will need to share this certificate with the Area Office, we in turn will send you the 10 hour Coaching Practicum to complete and return to the Area Office complete your Certification.
