- Yale Alumni Chorus (USA)
The Yale Alumni Chorus, founded in 1997, is comprised of select singing alumni of Yale, both men and women, and in their 16 years have toured the world literally becoming Ambassadors of Song. Their repertoire not only consists of Yale Songs from the famed Yale Song Book but major symphonic choral works as well as numerous songs from the many countries they have visited. Beginning in 1998 with their inaugural tour to China, YAC performed with highly regarded orchestras, including the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai National Broadcasting Orchestra, the Kirov Orchestra, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Brazil Symphony Orchestra, the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev, the Millennium Sinfonieta of Mexico City, Cuba’s Solistas de Habana, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Estonian National Youth Orchestra, Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony, the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. YAC has also worked with famed musicians including the international opera star Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Stephen Cleobury of the King’s College Choir, the BBC Singers, Cambridge University Music Society, and renowned baritone Simon Estes. YAC has toured to China, Russia, Wales, England, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, The Netherlands, South Africa, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Cuba, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The Yale Alumni Chorus is also special in their efforts to reach out to communities whether it’s founding a youth chorus in one of Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, carrying instruments for a South African youth community orchestra or donating drums to the Saule Puse Colour Orchestra in Riga for people with mental disabilities.
- Wishful Singing (Netherlands)
Wishful Singing is a top international female a cappella group. The five young singers perform a repertoire from all four corners of the world. Whether it is a modest piece from the Renaissance or a swinging adaptation of a pop classic, Wishful Singing is always convincing with their strong expression and perfect balance. Winning over audiences night after night with their beautiful voices, shared talent for comedy, and excellent sense of theatre, Wishful Singing performs in many major Dutch venues and are on stage annually for concerts and international festivals. Wishful Singing is also frequently heard live on radio and television. In November 2010, the debut album “New Blue” was released by the Dutch Record Company. Wishful Singing performed at the prestigious City of London Festival in 2012 and has won various national and international prizes and has been on tour to Japan, Spain, France, Germany and Italy, to name a few.
All Serenade! Washington, D.C. Choral Festival concerts are free of charge; a free-will donation will be taken at the performance.
