The Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle
Salt Creek Beach, Dana Point, CA
October 4 & 5, 2014
(San Clemente, CA)—Rainbow® Sandals and Gerry Lopez is proud to
announce the Battle of the Paddle October 4 & 5, 2014 at Salt Creek Beach
in Dana Point, California. After maximizing capacity last year’s event at
Doheny State Beach, we moved the event just a couple of miles up the coast
to the beautiful Salt Creek Beach With the new location at Salt Creek, the Battle of the Paddle will be able to offer a new and exciting race courses, a greater SUP Expo, more parking and
a stadium arena layout for spectators.
Salt creek is one of the most beautiful beaches in California located just
south of Laguna Beach. It’s hills and geography will allow people to look
over above the expo area and watch the action in the water from
everywhere at the event including event registration.
Salt Creek allows us to have more parking and at a lower cost. There is
parking directly atop the hill at Salt Creek that is only $8.00/day, Free
parking down at Strands, and parking at Dana Hills High School. There will
be shuttles assigned to taking exhibitors, competitors, spectators and
equipment from the top of the hill to the beach all weekend and shuttles
assigned to taking people from the other parking lots to the main one at Salt
We are excited to exhibit new race courses for all races. The Elite race will
be evermore fun and exciting to watch as well as the Open, Distance and
Kids Races. In case of a large swell and if we feel the conditions aren’t safe
for lower level paddlers we will change the course the day to alternative
courses we’ve planned that are more safe and less challenging for the Open
and Kids Races.
