Mass Insight Education
Mass Insight Education's AP*/STEM initiative is the state’s largest high school math, science, and English program aimed at underserved students and is expanding access to rigorous AP coursework and closing achievements gaps in high schools across the state. The Program is an Advanced Placement* driven, performance and research-based replication program that combines rigor with multiple supports including teacher training, content coaching, and additional learning time for students to produce results. The Program has more than doubled participation and performance in AP math, science, and English courses, one of the strongest quantitative measures of college success, and is achieving remarkable gains in increasing college attendance and persistence rates for its AP students.
The AP/STEM initiative was organized in 2008 by Mass Insight Education in partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was initially funded through a 5-year grant from the National Math and Science Initiative but is now sustained through a public-private partnership.
Mass Insight Education is now partnering with school districts to form “College Success Communities” focused on raising standards and expectations within public schools. By using the Advanced Placement standard, districts bring students and teachers a program that combines academic excellence with wraparound supports designed to increase student achievement.
Mass Insight Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Boston, MA, was founded in 1997 to help create and implement strategies that close educational achievement gaps. Through its two major efforts and initiatives, Mass Insight Education partners with school districts to dramatically improve student achievement through increasing academic rigor and reinventing district systems. It is the sister organization of Mass Insight Global Partnerships, which has worked since 1989 to keep Massachusetts and its businesses and institutions globally competitive.
