Snohomish County Elder Abuse Conference

The conference's target audience is Law Enforcement Personnel, Health Care Providers, Social Service Professionals, Victim Advocates, and anyone who would like to learn more from local experts on the topic of elder abuse.
This half-day conference will include the following:
8:00-8:30 Registration, coffee, tea, and morning refreshments
8:30-9:45 Keynote Speaker: Mark Roe, Snohomish County Prosecutor. We are delighted to have Mark Roe as part of our conference! Mark will be addressing barriers to prosecuting cases, giving case examples, and discussing how we can move forward when faced with the challenges of vulnerable adult abuse cases.
10:00-11:45 Panel of Experts on Elder Abuse including:
- Jeff Quigley, APS Program Manager, Region II speaking on Vulnerable Adults & Mandatory Reporting;
- Alan Lai, Crime Victim Service Director at Chinese Information and Service Center speaking on cultural factors and breaking the barriers that lead to under-reporting;
- Paula Newman-Skomski, ARNP at Providence Intervention Center speaking on medical findings for suspected abuse;
- Joni Lang, Financial Crimes Detective with the Everett Police Department speaking on financial exploitation of seniors and vulnerable adults.
