Class List

Solo Fusion Fundamentals

Before dancing with a partner, it's important to have your own dance basics down solid.  This solo movement class will cover all the most important fundamental techniques that make a dancer exceptional.  These exercises were specifically designed with fusion dancers in mind.  We'll be exploring all the nuances of why posture, alignment, balance, grounding, and placement of weight is so important in our dance.

A Cozy Close Embrace

Mmm...  a close embrace so cozy that you melt into your partner.  Let's dance comfortably up close with your partner...  so that your partner will keep coming back for more.

Rhythmic Playground

Let's explore the different ways we express musical rhythms with our bodies and with our partners.  We'll find the basic dance rhythms we encounter in partner dancing and play with the ways in which we can express that to our partner.

Elastic Connections

Stretchy, elastic connections in the partnership make dancing in open connection comfortable, easy, and fun.  Once the lead and follow have determined who creates the elasticity, the possibilities on the dance floor are truly endless!

Telling a Story

Let's explore what it is like to dance with a full range of emotional expression while finding a way to add a story to our dance.  A good story has characters, a plot, feelings, and the influence of your imagination.  Learning to tell a story makes each dance unique for you and your partner.

The Art of Conversation

A good conversationalist can listen as well as speak.  Followers, learn to make your voice heard in the dance while listening the lead of your partner.  Leads, allow space for conversation to happen while showing your partner you've heard what they've said.  Taking turns to speak intelligently in the dance conversation is an exciting way to add more depth to your dance dialogue.

Twisty Tango, Part 1

Adapt the sinewy, spiraling qualities of tango into our fusion.  Learn to spiral the body and to release its power like a coiled snake.  Create a more dynamic, natural movement in your fusion dancing.

Twisty Tango, Part 2

Continuing to build onto twisty tango concepts in order to bridge them to our fusion dancing.
