2014 Annual Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dare
Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (EST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dare, modeled after the incredibly successful Krispy Kreme Challenge in North Carolina, combines America's two favorite pastimes, running and eating. In the inaugural Doughnut Dare, participants will run a 5K race through the University of Georgia campus. With one catch. Near the halfway point, the racers will stop running and start eating. Racers will eat ten delectable doughnuts from Krispy Kreme before running the remaining other half of the race. The first person to finish the race, and hold down their doughnuts, will be crowned the champion. This race is for experienced racers looking for a new challenge and some fun, or a beginner runner who wants to enjoy a run through campus with a nice twist, or for the college student who wants to prove how many doughnuts he can handle. There is something for everyone!
Here is how it works. Register online NOW for one of three different divisions: to "Take the Dare," be a "Leisure Runner," or be "Morale."
If you choose to "Take the Dare" you are the true competitors, signing up for the complete race and eating the full ten doughnuts in order to gain immortality in the racing and eating world. True men and women who aren't afraid of a little stomach cramp will be in this division where bragging rights reign supreme and the ultimate champion of the day will be named.
If you choose to be a "Leisure Runner" you stand no less in the eyes of the crowd, though they will certainly feel better at the end of race. They simply run the race (no small feat if you ask me) and have the choice of enjoying as many or as few doughnuts as they choose along the way, with no pressure. There will be a winner of this division as well based on time alone.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the "Morale" will be out in force to pump those racers up! This group will sign up to cheer on the hungry souls that have embarked on the run by holding signs, waving banners, sounding horns, clanging cymbals, or whatever they need to do to encourage the participants. Of course there will be a winner in this division as well for best Moraler or group of Moralers as we reward those who encourage others. Complete prizes and awards for each division will be available shortly on the website.
