PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND TARGET AUDIENCE

 According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2011, 32,367 people were killed in the estimated 5,338,000 police-reported motor vehicle traffic crashes; 2,217,000 people were injured; and 3,778,000 crashes resulted in property damage only. Compared to 2010, this is a 2-percent decrease in the number of fatalities, and a 1.5-percent decrease in the number of police reported

motor vehicle traffic crashes, a 1-percent decrease in the number of people injured, and a 2-percent decrease in crashes resulting in property damage.

An average of 89 people died each day in motor vehicle crashes in 2011—one every

16 minutes.

 This conference is designed to enhance the multi-disciplinary team approach and continuing professional development to effectively manage the trauma patient from impact to recovery. It is the goal of the multi-disciplinary team to provide the best care in order to facilitate the best possible recovery and patient outcomes. The following professionals will benefit from this educational activity: nurses, pre-hospital, hospital chaplains, respiratory therapists and all other professionals working with the pre-hospital and trauma patient.

 EDUCATIONAL CREDIT

 CoxHealth Education Center is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Missouri Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

            6.0 Contact Hours

 This program has been approved for 6.0 contact hours Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) credit by the American Association for Respiratory Care, 9425 N. MacArthur Blvd. Suite 100, Irving TX 75063.

CoxHealth – Educational Services is an approved provider of continuing education by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Unit of EMS. This activity has been approved for 6.0 contact hours. The Training Center number is 07710C.

 

This program has been deemed appropriate for chaplains to list 6.0 contact hours of continuing education credit. Credit should be listed on the Association of Professional Chaplains Annual Summary of Continuing Education Hours Form in the area of “Workshops/Conferences/Seminars/Symposia.”

 

This program has been approved by CoxHealth for 3.0 trauma contact hours for CoxHealth employees. The credits are for the following: To Give or Not to Give, Traumatic Events Management, and Transport Considerations for the Pediatric Trauma Patient

Participants will receive statements of credit at the end of the program when all requirements for credit have been met. Satisfactory completion of objectives will occur through program attendance. Therefore contact hours will be given only for hours the participant attends. In order to receive a statement of credit, all participants must sign-in at the registration desk and turn in a completed evaluation form at the end of the program.

CANCELLATION, NO SHOW, AND REFUND POLICY

Cancellations received in writing to EducationCenter@coxcollege.edu by April 2, 2014 will be entitled to a full refund. After this time, a $25 processing fee will be withheld. No refunds will be made the day of the conference. No shows will be charged the full conference fee.

 In the event the Education Center cancels or reschedules a course, participants are entitled to a full refund or the participant may transfer registration to the next scheduled activity.

 CoxHealth is not responsible for travel, hotel, booking fees, or other cancellation fees for registrants when an activity is cancelled.

 All refunds must be received in writing via email or by calling the Education Center.
