Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to seniors and the critically ill including people living with HIV/AIDS. Every day, we prepare 2,500 nutritious meals and provide 400 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, isolation, or the health challenges.
Shanti Project offers a continuum of services designed to meet the practical and emotional support needs of people living with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening illnesses. Shanti's Peer-to-Peer counseling program has become a model and benchmark for other programs throughout the U.S. and other countries.
When & Where
Academy of Friends
Academy of Friends has been in existence and evolving for nearly 34 years. Soon after the onset of the HIV epidemic, we dedicated ourselves to the mission of working to ease the burden of this disease through the raising of funds in support of direct care for those with HIV/AIDS and educational programs to prevent infection. As the pandemic grew, thus did our scope; to help “…where the need is greatest, until the crisis has passed.” Through our annual Academy Awards Night Gala, we have raised over $8.6 million to support more than 72 HIV/AIDS service organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please join us and make a difference.
