Conference Information The National Academy of Orthopaedic Nurses in cooperation with Community Medical Center is proud to sponsor the 2013 Western Montana Orthopaedic Conference. This conference is designed to examine current developments in the continuum of care for orthopedic patients and has been planned and implemented in accordance with NAON policies for continuing education.
Speakers will present information on knee, joint and shoulder procedures, as well as osteoporosis and delirium/pain management. The target audience for this conference is nurses and other healthcare providers who are interested in or involved in the care of orthopaedic patients. Participants will gain insight from accomplished healthcare professionals in a variety of specialties. Conference Objectives At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:
• Describe CAS TKA procedures and compare and contrast CAS TKA to standard TKA.
• Explain the symptomology requiring SI Joint surgical intervention.
• Explain and describe current treatment recommendations for the delirious patient.
• Define reverse total shoulder and illustrate circumstances to use reverse total shoulder.
• Summarize indications for total elbow and demonstrate the post-operative regimen.
• Review the concepts of osteoporosis and suggest changes in nursing practice to improve patient awareness.
Continuing Education Continuing education for 6.25 contact hours have been approved by NAON for this conference. Criteria for successful completion include attending the entire session and submitting the completed evaluation form.
