This special event is hosted by the Urban League of Central Carolinas Young Professionals Auxiliary. The celebration is designed to engage and honor Young Professionals under the age of 40 who best exemplify the Urban League’s commitment to creating an inclusive society through service and leadership. This fundraising awards program offers a unique opportunity to engage and celebrate with Young Professionals who are making a difference in the community.
The 2013 6th Annual ULCCYP Leadership Award recipients are:
Ms. Jada Grandy; Grandy, Senior Vice President, CRA Officer & Manager of Community Development at Fifth Third Bank is a past president of Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh (ULYP-PGH) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Urban League of Central Carolinas. Ms. Grandy’s other board and civic leadership includes Renaissance West Community Initiative, WIE Advisory Board, and Johnson C. Smith University Board of Visitors. Ms Grandy is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
Ms. Alexis Mitchell; Mitchell, News Content Specialist for WBTV has served in a number of community and professional organization that serves Urban League customers and the community at large. She is a Member of National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ), Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalist (CAABJ), Association of Women in Communications (AWC), UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon Committee and Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
Hosted by Charlotte’s own “Fashion Connoisseur”, Mr. Ryan Jor El, the 6th Annual Urban League Young Professionals Leadership Awards Event will be set to the theme of “Harlem Renaissance-Charlotte Style”. The Renaissance theme signifies the “rebirth and re-introduction” of the ULCCYP auxiliary, who re-launched in early 2013 after a brief hiatus. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best Harlem Renaissance /Roaring 20’s attire. The ULCCYPs are proud to feature music by the nationally renowned DJ SHOGUN.
The ULCCYP 6th Annual Leadership Awards will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Extravaganza Depot 1610 North Tryon Street. Doors open at 7:00pm for networking, cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Awards program begins promptly at 7:45pm.100% of proceeds from the 2013 Leadership Awards will benefit the Urban League of Central Carolinas’ 21st Century Jobs Training programs.
