Welcome to the 2013 Prostate Cancer Pony Express
Welcome to the registration page for the 2013 Prostate Cancer Pony Express, our annual ride to the Capitol in Washington, DC to raise awareness of the prostate cancer epidemic and the need to research and early detection.
This Year We Have a Great New Format!
Instead of a trans-America relay as in 2012, this year we will gather in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, for local riding to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia, and over to Wild Wonderful West Virginia on Route 33 past Seneca Rocks, one of the most beautiful motorcycle rides anywhere.
How to Find Event Details
Complete details are posted on the Prostate Cancer Pony Express event website at www.ProstateCancerPonyExpress.com. There is a link to signup for email event updates.
Saturday Evening Banquet
There will be a buffet dinner - a Dining In for those of you with a military background - at the Clementine Cafe, arguably the finest restaurant in Harrisonburg. You can review the restaurant at www.ClementineCafe.com. We have room for just 80 attendees.
Saturday's dinner also will feature the drawing for the new iPad for everyone who has raised $350.00 or more by August, along with the signing of our Prostate Cancer Pony Express Memorial Journal and our Big Blue Flag.
We will have a special drawing for riders who come with their Blue Prostate Cancer Pony Express flag, and for those who are sporting their official Prostate Cancer Pony Express polo shirts.
Limited Edition Ride T-shirts
We have created a new t-shirt for the 2013 Pony Express. This is a strictly limited edition. We will make our production run on July 1, 2013, so that we can ship them in time for the ride. Quantities will be based on orders on this site and just a few more as commemorative items fo our historical records. We do not anticipate having more than a dozen available at the event.
Please note that we need to collect a shipping address for t-shirt orders. Due to our technology limitations, we need to collect a shipping address for every registrant. Please note, however, that we will only use this information for t-shirt shipping, you will not be added to any mailing list.
Become an Official Lifelong Prostate Cancer Pony Express Rider
Everyone that registers will be awarded a personal lifelong Prostate Cancer Pony Express Rider Number,* and all registered riders will receive an official 2013 ride patch.
Why We are Doing This
Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer and almost 30,000 men die every year from the disease because they don't know they have it in time for effective treatment and they don't have a simple tool for measuring their personal risk. In July 2012, we released our free ProstateTracker early detection that shows men if their prostate cancer risk is rising in time to them to seek treatment. Now, we just need to get men using it and raise the funds to keep it going.
You Don't Need To Ride the Entire Event
We would love to have you with us for the entire event, but we understand everyone is busy. You can meet us Sunday morning in Harrisonburg for the ride to the Capitol, or simply meet us at the Capitol on Sunday for our annual official photo.
Make a Donation or Be a Fundraiser
Just like National Public Radio, we depend on donations from individuals to support our free prostate cancer early detection tool - ProstateTracker - and fund our awareness events. Please visit the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project fundraising page and make a donation.
I hope to see you this August.
