The Many Lives of Maine's Lighthouses
with David Richards and Kirk F. Mohney
Since the construction of Maine's first lighthouse, Portland Head in 1791, lighthouses have been one of Maine's beloved icons, embodying a sense of resilience and dependability.
Every lighthouse tells a different and unique story and each one is magnificent in its own right.
Authors David Richards and Kirk F. Mohney will explore these remarkable Maine landmarks from their early history and design through their rise as an icon of the Maine coast to the challenges of decommissioning and preserving these pillars of Maine's heritage and tourism.
A book signing will follow the program.
Maine Maritime Museum offers a myriad of opportunities to explore Maine’s maritime heritage and culture and to experience the mystique of Maine.
