The Finding Ambiguities in Requirements seminar is a one-day process-oriented tutorial that provides a powerful, yet practical method for ensuring that specifications are clear, concise and unambiguous.  Studies have shown that 55-60% of all defects have their root cause in poor requirements.  They also show that if something is ambiguous in the specifications there is nearly a 100% probability that one or more defects will be found in the code that can be traced back to the ambiguity.  Attendees will be taught the types of ambiguities and how to identify them at close to normal reading pace.  This leads to early defect detection and significant defect avoidance.  This seminar will also teach attendees to ensure that requirements are written to a level of detail required to produce a sufficient set of test cases to validate the system's functionality.  The level of detail required for testing does not add anything unique to the standard for developing requirements specifications. This same level of detail is needed by all project team members who need to validate that all requirements are being addressed.  Attendees will learn how to identify ambiguities in specifications, the ambiguity review process, and how to apply the seminar concepts when reviewing specifications in any format.

Mr. Bender has over forty years of experience in software with a primary focus on quality assurance and testing.  He has consulted internationally to large and small corporations, government agencies, and the military.  This has involved a wide range of applications including finance, medical, satellite intelligence, aircraft, trains, automobiles, and education, among many others.  He also teaches a series of courses on the techniques for practical, rigorous requirements-based testing, code-based testing, and writing testable requirements.
