Welcome to the Foursquare Education Symposium Registration Page!
The Foursquare National Education Symposium will take place this year at the beautiful campus of Life Pacific College located in San Dimas in sunny Southern California. This year's Symposium will focus on The Foursquare Church's First Target as laid out by President Glenn Burris at 2012 Convention: Leaders. The praxis for this discussion will follow the research and direction of Tammy Dunahoo under three topics: Heart,Head, & Hands.
Expect exhilarating, fast-paced sessions as we usher in a new season for Foursquare Education. Plenary speakers include world-renowned evangelist and leadership coach Daniel Brown; experts in practical and theological training such as David Moore, Ph.D.; the research and professional expertise on training emotionally healthy leaders of Jared Roth; and a message guiding our conversation around the sub-targets of head, heart, and hands from Tammy Dunahoo, the esteemed General Supervisor of our movement.
Registration includes an individual EQi Behavioral Health Analysis and a collective comprehensive assessment (after completion of registration, an EQi link will be emailed to you). For more information about the EQi, click here: Emotional Intelligence: Why Does It Matter?
Tammy Dunahoo, Vice President of U.S. Operations and General Supervisor has served The Foursquare Church for some twelve years in various roles such as the national church health team, district supervisor of Arkansas, and national director of Foursquare Women. She became the interim general supervisor in July of 2009 and was appointed general supervisor in June 2010. She also currently serves on the Foursquare board of directors, the board of Foursquare Financial Solutions and observer on the Foursquare Foundation board, and numerous committees. She is passionate about the training and multiplication of healthy leaders and churches throughout the U.S. and around the globe.
Tammy has been married to her best friend and ministry partner, Gary, for over 33 years. They have enjoyed ministry assignments ranging from lead pastors and church planters, to life and marriage coaches and conference speakers, but their favorite role has been that of “mom and dad" and "grammy and poppy" to their son Josh, daughter Ashlee, and grandson Eli.
Rev. Burt Smith, Senior Pastor
Burt Smith and his wife, Jan, have been in the ministry for more than 30 years. They have served as senior pastors of Church of Living Water in Olympia, Wash., since June of 1991. The Smiths also pioneered and pastored Little Country Church in Redding, Calif., which grew from seven families to 5,900 members over 13 years. The church also built a Christian day school and high school. Burt served as a Divisional Superintendent, later as the Supervisor of the Evergreen District of Foursquare Churches, and presently he is a member of the Foursquare Cabinet and Board of Directors.
Burt is a true father in the faith. He is esteemed for his availability to pastors and emerging leaders by encouraging and challenging them to achieve the high destiny that God has for each one. Burt’s practical understanding of the Word together with his sincerity and authenticity make him a favored speaker at retreats and conferences.
Burt and Jan have been married for more than 40 years; they have three married daughters and six grandchildren.
Jared Roth and his wife Ann co-pastor Evergreen Christian Center in Hillsboro, Oregon, an 82 year-old Foursquare church of 800 moving together toward a vital shared future. Jared and Ann are church people who have planted, pastored, and parented. Over his life in Foursquare, Jared has also served denominationally as a district administrator, national director of church planting, national general supervisor, international vice president and COO, consultant, and board chair of Life Pacific College. Today, Jared enjoys consulting relationships with several large churches and denominational executives.
After a business major at the University of Oregon and two years in Ministries Institute at Eugene Faith Center, Jared earned a B.S. in Managerial Leadership and an M.A. in Leadership and Church Growth. He received a Doctor of Divinity degree and completed an Ed.D. in Organization Change at Pepperdine University. Jared currently teaches at George Fox University and Life Pacific College.
Emotional/Social Intelligence and its relationship to effective vocational ministry roles formed the focus of Jared’s doctoral research, through which he discovered a helpful profile for pastors of effective turnaround churches and also identified some toxic elements of the senior pastor role. Jared considers this useful knowledge for any seeking a path to healthy leadership: not the myth of balance, but rather a real and practicable harmony – living out value-based roles in a sustainable and healthy way, including family relationships. Jared and Ann’s adult children, Jordan and Hillary, have blessed the Roths with three beautiful preschool-aged granddaughters. Ann's mother lives with the Roths and together they appreciate four generations of family life and connection.
Known as “friend” to Foursquare pastors and national leaders throughout the world, Daniel Brown is one of the most personable, yet provocative, leaders in the international Foursquare family. He gleans thought-provoking as well as practical treasures from the Bible, and expounds them with humor, animation and enthusiasm. Daniel’s unique approach to most subjects makes him well-recognized as an “out-of- the-box” thinker with a distinctive, conversational anddecidedly non-religious style.
In December 1984, following five years on the pastoral ministry team at The Church on the Way under Pastor Jack Hayford, Daniel and his family were sent out to pioneer The Coastlands, a church near Santa Cruz, California, where he served as Senior Pastor for 22 years. Today, Daniel heads up Commended to The Word and travels the globe teaching leaders and encouraging them to “go for it” in God.
Daniel has authored four books and numerous articles, but he is best-known for the sorts of resources that help local church leaders excel in their spiritual assignment. His latest book is Embracing Grace, released in January 2013.
Daniel and Pamela have been married since 1973. They have four children and ten grandchildren. His simple mission statement is: “Love, mend, train and send people into more ministry than they would think to do on their own.”
David Moore is an author and Associate Professor of Theology at Life Pacific College. He has served as the director of the John Perkins Center for Christian Community Transformation and Associate Professor of Church Leadership at Patten University. David is coaching and overseeing a non-traditional church called Missio Dei and trains missional leaders for the opportunities facing ministers in the 21st century.
