2013 Fall Harvest Festival
Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Please join us on the farm for our Fall Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 13th from 11am-3pm! CSA member families and their friends are invited to the farm for a fun filled day. Our crisp and delicious Pink Lady apples will be ripe for the picking. Eat as many as your bellies will hold, and pick some to take home at a U-pick price of $2.50 per pound. We will provide containers to pick into but members should bring their own containers to take their fruit home. This is a great opportunity for those who love to bake, make applesauce, or dry fruit.
Want to learn to bake the perfect apple pie to grace your holiday table? Becky will be leading a step-by-step demonstration class on pie making in our Farm Kitchen beginning at 11:15am. We have space for 15 people to participate. This class is first come first served.
Molly and friends will be setting up a fun and educational creation station for the kids to make an apple and codling moth puppet. While kids are making their puppets, they’ll also have a chance to learn about the apple codling moth and how we combat this major pest organically in our Orchard.
Farmer Al will be giving two walking tours of the Orchard. Tours will leave the circle at 12:15pm and 1:15pm.
Our friends from the Mt. Diablo String Band will be back playing old time tunes in our picnic area in the peach trees. The peaches will all be gone but the shade that their branches provide won't, so make sure to pack a lunch and bring a blanket so you can relax, enjoy the music, and then maybe even join in on some square dancing.
Kids and adults alike are sure to be pleased by our Pumpkin Patch featuring organic pumpkins from the very fine farmers at Full Belly Farm. We’ll also have a mini-farmers market of our Frog Hollow Farm products for you to purchase. Purchases are cash or check only please.
What you should bring:
- A reusable water bottle
- Picnic blanket
- Containers for u-picked fruit
- A sun hat
- Comfortable shoes (closed toed if you don’t like dusty feet)
- A camera
- Cash or check if you’d like to purchase anything
We ask you to remember that Frog Hollow is a working farm. For your children’s safety please be sure they don’t play on any farm equipment and stay away from the irrigation canal. We kindly request that all people picking fruit to take home, purchase everything that is picked into containers. Surrounded by the bounty and beauty of the orchard, it’s easy to get carried away and pick too much! When picking, please be mindful of how much you will really want to take home with you. Though Farmer Al and Becky’s do Nochi would love the company, please leave your pets at home.
