2013 Equal Justice Under Law

Equal Justice Under LawEqual Justice Under Law is a constitutional issue and public policy program for high school students designed to enhance your students understanding of a recently decided U.S. Supreme Court Case.  For 2013, we will focus on, Florida v. Jardines.  This case discusses what is considered a "search" under the Fourth Amendment.

Benefits of participation:

  • Teachers receive case materials, policy analysis tools, interactive strategies, and classroom lessons.
  • Students receive training on issues, policy analysis tools, and case materials. Students also have the opportunity to meet public officials, legal experts, policymakers, and peers from different schools and discuss current policy questions.

This year's important dates are:

November 15, 2013 – student training for 2 student delegates from each school (downtown Chicago)

December 6, 2013 – conference for all student delegates** (downtown Chicago)

Equal Justice Under Law is a program of the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago and is supported in part by a grant from the Stuart Family Foundation.

**There is no limit on the number of students who participate in school-based activities. The maximum number of student delegates per school will be determined by the total number of registered schools for the program. In general, delegations normally include 10-12 students per school.  Exceptions can sometimes be made on a case-by-case basis.
