Individual Taxpayer Issues: Wages paid to household workers, Form 8949, Savings Bonds, and Gambling

 

Tax practice due diligence: Record retention, Consents, Abatement of penalties and Data security.

 

Affordable Care Act: Net investment tax, Medicare tax, Employer credits, Health care credit for low-income individuals, and Penalties for no health insurance

 

Business Entities: Buying and selling business entities

 

Business Issues: Safe harbor for home office deductions, Single-member 401(k), and Domestic Production Activity deduction

 

Agricultural and Natural Resources: Labor issues, Special depreciation rules, Livestock sales/losses, Drought impact, and Like-kind exchanges

 

Construction Industry: Accounting methods, Classification of contracts and workers

 

Tax Issues in Divorce: Dependent exemptions, Relief from joint liability, and Allocation of itemized deductions

 

IRS Issues: Automated Under-reported & soft notices, Voluntary Classification Settlement Program, and cancellation of debt as audit issue

 

SCDOR: SC Legislation, SCDOR Security Updates, “Marketplace Fairness Act”, Update on SC E-File and 2D barcode filing

 

Ethics: Conflicts of Interest, Disclosure of information, Privacy Act notification

 

Continuing Education Credits:

 

FOR CPA AND ENROLLED AGENTS: 18 hrs total

Federal Tax Law: 11.5 hrs, Ethics: 2 hrs, Updates: 3 hrs

Meals, Refreshments and Facilities: A noon meal is included

on both days of the workshop. Refreshments are provided during breaks.
