The Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race is a 32 mile open ocean endurance race started in 1955 by LA County Lifeguard Bob Hogan. The Classic tradition continues as the race enters its 37th year. Paddlers race from the Isthmus at Catalina Island to the Manhattan Beach Pier. Each paddler is required to have a support/escort boat (one paddler per boat) and must be capable of completing the race in 9 hours. Entries are available for Unlimited (any board length) and Stock Class (12', 20 lbs.). All classes are "open," meaning no age divisions. Please visit our website: www.catalinaclassicpaddleboardrace.org for qualification info. The Race Committee reserves the right to refuse entry to any paddler. Paddleboard Racing is a dangerous sport and paddlers must meet qualifications to compete in the Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race.
