We have decided to gain forces and merge the Annual Oakland Block Party from the past three years. This event will take place in several Oakland neighborhoods over the next couple years, beginning with Uptown neighborhood showcasing the culinary revolution that has become prominent in the food industry establishing Oakland as a culinary destination.

Partial proceeds for this event will go toward helping our community friends Youth Radio!Youth Radio is an award-winning media production company that trains diverse young people in digital media and technology, located in the Uptown neighborhood. Partnering with industry professionals, students learn to produce marketable media for massive audiences while bringing youth perspectives to issues of public concern.

And our friends at the Oakland School for the Arts - A public charter school in the Oakland Unified School District that opened its doors in 2002 with a mission to immersive arts experiences in a college preparatory setting. The school curriculum revolves around the concept of integration, both between academic subjects and with the arts. OSA currently serves 615 students in grades 6-12 with a student faculty ratio of 1:12.

Admission: Each student who attends OSA must audition into one of nine arts emphases:
• Circus Arts
• Dance
• Digital Media
• Instrumental Music
• Literary Arts
• Production Design
• Theater
• Visual Arts
• Vocal Music

Applicants audition before a panel of faculty/staff that assess their artistic talent and potential. Upon acceptance to the school, academic placement is determined based upon the student’s prior preparation for a challenging academic curriculum. Please help us in welcoming The Oakland School for the Arts!
