2013 200th Anniversary of HMS Boxer and USS Enterprise Battle at Pemaquid

It was during the War of 1812, and the Boxer had been raiding American shipping off the Maine coast, capturing seven schooners and other ships.
On that Sunday morning, she spotted a sail to the south. It was the American vessel USS Enterprise. People on the shores of Pemaquid Point witnessed someting few landsmen ever see- a naval battle. the fight between the Enterprise and Boxer became one of the most storied of the War of 1812.
To commemorate the battle's 200th anniversary, Maine Maritime Museum will host the folk duo "Castlebay", historian /author James L. Nelson and novelist /storyteller Van Reid in an event of songs, stories and history woven together to illuminate the events of that day at Pemaquid Point.
