Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 7:00 PM (CDT)
New Orleans, LA
The Women’s Guild and the Junior Committee, of the New Orleans Opera Association, in the spirit of past Czars and Czarinas of Russia, invite you to join us for Opera Ball 2012, to be held on May 5, 2012, at the magnificent Empire Ball Room in the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Composer Tchaikovsky’s opera inspiration, Pikovaya Dama will take us back to the opulence of 1800’s St. Petersburg, Russia. Be prepared to experience an evening beginning with the “Czar’s and Czarina’s Reception,” including signature Russian cocktails, Russian delicacies, an exciting silent auction and surprise guest appearances. Later, you will enjoy an elegant seated dinner, Russian entertainment, and music for dancing.
All proceeds from this major fundraiser will allow us to keep the great tradition of Opera alive in New Orleans (the first city of opera in the country) by assisting New Orleans Opera in the support of its productions and educational programs for children in our area.
You don’t want to miss this spectacular event and the splendor of the evening, as we reminisce in the storied 1800’s Czarist Russia.
When & Where
Women's Guild of the New Orleans Opera Association
Founded in 1947, the Women's Guild has an important role in the success of opera in New Orleans and its Opera Ball has always been a wonderful way to support the arts in New Orleans. Opera has long been a part of the city's culture - since its first performance in 1797 - and the proceeds of the Cinderella Ball and Bash will help continue the tradition for future generations to enjoy.
