VEGA Farmer-to-Farmer Brown Bag Event: Field Visit Best Practices

The Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA) is pleased to announce the 2012 Diaspora Volunteer Service Awards that will be presented in conjunction with the 2012 Global Diaspora Forum at the office of CDC Development Solutions (CDS), a VEGA member organization.
VEGA is commencing the Diaspora Volunteer Service Awards as a way to recognize the incredible work that is being done by diaspora volunteers around the world, and to host a networking reception that will help facilitate collaboration between diaspora communities and volunteer-sending organizations. The potential of diasporas to contribute to development through volunteerism is vast, and the power can be unlocked through coordination with partners that have extensive experience with international volunteering and can provide the necessary support to diasporas looking for ways to give back to their countries of heritage.
This year's honorees are as follows:
Award for Corporate Volunteerism: Yared Ayele (Ethiopia)
Award for Partnership Building: Manjula Dissanayake (Sri Lanka)
Award for Grassroots Innovation: Paul Pham (Vietnam)
Award for Social Entrepreneurship: Hugo Cardona (Colombia)
Award for Short-Term Volunteering: Magaline Goman (Haiti)
The Guest of Honor to present the awards for this event will be Wendy Abt, USAID's Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade.
