Join us for the 2012 California Student Media Festival, a fantastic day filled with the most creative media projects from across the state. We are excited to announce big changes this year including the addition of some free morning training sessions for parents, teachers, and students.
The schedule for the day and pre-ceremony session descriptions can be found below. Grand prize winners, as well as winners in our special 2012 categories for Earthquake Preparedness and American Graduate, will be announced during the ceremony on June 2nd. Session #1 - Making Mobile Media Meaningful: iPads, Mobiles, and Magic
Hall Davidson and Karen Green
iPads, tablets, and mobile phones can create and share videos extended in the anywhere/anytime universe. Learn how to send images/videos to common free "channels" for schools and elsewhere. Use QR codes from media for projects. Finally, explore apps that do chromakey ("green screen") editing, sharing, stop-motion, effects, build previews, and much, much more. Mobiles are digital backbacks and video studios!
Session #2 - Easy Animation with Free Tools
From stick figures, to stop motion, you can be an animator with these simple, free tools. Just a beginner? Learn some basic animation techniques and explore various styles and forms of animation as we demonstrate Pivot, GoAnimate, Jellycam, Blabberize and a few others.
Session #3 - Lights, Camera, Learn!: 10 Lessons for Better Video in the Classroom
