Help the Power Association ring in the new year as we honor California State Senator
JOE SIMITIAN  for his leadership in passing California’s renewable energy standard legislation in 2011.

2011 Award for Achievement:
California State Senate

Joe Simitian was elected to the California State Senate in November 2004 and currently chairs the Environmental Quality Committee.  In 2011, he was successful in having the legislature and Governor pass the 33% renewable portfolio standard, which requires electricity delivered to California consumers to include 33% renewable resources by the year 2020. He also serves on the following legislative committees: Budget & Fiscal Review, where he is Chair of Subcommittee #2 on Resources, Environmental Protection and Transportation; Education; Energy, Utilities & Communications; Natural Resources & Water; and Transportation & Housing.

Power Association of Northern California

The Power Association of Northern California is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of the power industry in California and all of its component parts. PANC sponsors monthly luncheon meetings and educational seminars to help professionals better understand the challenges confronting the power industry. Monthly luncheon meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in San Francisco. Guest speakers include legislators, CEO's, Commissioners and other experts from both the regulated and unregulated side of the industry.
