Event Details

“At the Street Soccer USA Cup, they [the homeless] know, that they have dignity, and that a ball can change their life.”

Ted Leonsis, Founder & CEO, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, SSUSA Sponsor

The Sport for Social Change Awards honors members of our community who have used sport to enrich all of our lives and most importantly the lives of those in need. Come out and meet some the areas top athletes and influential business and community leaders. All proceeds benefit the homeless participants of the Street Soccer USA program!

The Street Soccer USA program, which will benefit from funds raised from the evening's events, is a national leader in the use of sport for social development. SSUSA achieves a 75% success rate in 20 cities, leveraging the power of sports to improve outcomes in education, job, and housing placement for homeless teens and adults. Recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative, the New York Times, People Magazine, and ESPN among others, SSUSA exemplifies how sport can be used for positive social change here in the United States.

The Awards kick off the countdown to the 3-day, 20-city Street Soccer USA Cup, to be held in downtown DC, June 10rd-June 12th. These athletes will play for the greatest goal of all, to overcome homelessness and poverty. The top players chosen for achievement on and off the field will be selected to represent the US Men's and Women's teams at the 48-nation Homeless World Cup in Paris, France.

These series of events provides corporate sponsors a unique opportunity to support both local participants and promote their brands nationally and internationally. Considered the nation's premier sport for social change event, the SSUSA Cup receives national media exposure and attracts volunteers and attendees from all over the US. If you are a business owner or know that your employer would be interested in becoming a sponsor of Street Soccer USA please contact Street Soccer USA directly to find out more about sponsorship opportunities. We have several sponsorship tiers and each sponsorship includes tickets to the Awards Gala.

Street Soccer USA

Street Soccer USA’s mission is soccer for social change.

Through our 20-city league we aim to get homeless men, women, and youth off the streets, “scoring goals on the field, and achieving their goals in life."

Street Soccer USA (SSUSA) believes ending homelessness is a team sport.

Through a systematic approach we:

1. Build community and trust through sports with participants and volunteers, transforming the context within which they live from one of isolation, abuse, and marginalization, to one of community, purpose, and achievement.

2. Require participants to set 3, 6, and 12-month life goals.

3. Empower participants by marrying clinical services to sport programming and providing access to educational/employment opportunities through our Jobs Academy.
