Event Details

Join us for the 1st Annual Health in the Hood Wellness Festival on the campus of The LeMoyne-Owen College! The LeMoyne-Owen College sits within an impoverish area of Memphis and stands as a pillar of hope for those living within this community who are not often afforded the same opportunities of those residing in non-impoverished areas. Too many times, the “Hood” has a bad reputation and is represented as being an environment where crime is high, healthy lifestyle options are close to none, and morale is low. This is what we would like to change about our community, by bringing healthy lifestyle options to doorsteps of community members.

The dates for the festival are Friday, April 25th, 2014 from 9:30am to 3:00pm. On Friday, the festival will consist of sessions dedicated to Men’s Health, Wellness Education, and the HBCU Wellness Project Student Health Ambassadors Poster Session. Also, festival will consist of health screenings, health activities, entertainment, vendors, and much more.
