Come enjoy a night of opaque offerings to usher in the darkness on the autumnal equinox, with 19 incredible rare dark beers, special food pairings, and a live DJ at Jerry's in Wicker Park this Sunday. Highlights include:

  • The Bruery's Tart of Darkness, only brewed twice in their history, is a very rare, unique tart/sour stout, aged in Black Tuesday Oak Barrels.
  • Stone/Farking/Wheaton single-batch barrel-aged collaboration w00tstout is a 13% ABV nerdgasm in a glass; a viscous silken brew flavors of vanilla and bitter chocolate. Beam this beer straight into my mouth, Scotty, since it'll be gone soon.
  • Haymarket's 12.5% ABV Imperial Stout was aged for a ridiculous 18 months on Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrels, making it a monstrous stout with vanilla, cherry, bourbon, and coffee flavors.

Haymarket Indignant Bourbon Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout - 12.5%
A monstrously big black ale aged for 18 months in eight year old Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. Flavors of vanilla, coconut, chocolate, coffee, cherry and bourbon are matched by the warming effects of the brew.

The Bruery Tart Of Darkness

Wild Ale - 5.6%
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.

Stone Farking Wheaton W00tstout

Imperial Stout - 13%
From the most unlikely yet intensely imaginative trio that is actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch, comes an imperial stout unlike any ever made. Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. Three Floyds Moloko

Sweet Stout - 8% 30 IBUs
This Milk Stout is brewed with a portion of golden naked oats and lactose milk sugar to give it a rounded and full-bodied mouth feel. With a deep roasted and slightly sweet maltiness.

Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura Dark Dawn

Imperial Stout - 8.1%
A Belgian inspired stout that is as dark as a moonless midnight, brimming of roasted malts and bitter hops. It will keep you good company in all places, be they light or dark.

Solemn Oath None More Black Belgo-American Black Ale

Black IPA - 7.5% 80 IBUs
Brewed with roasted and de-bittered black barley, dry-hopped with Simcoe for a piney, resinous aroma, and fermented with saison yeast for a spicy, fruity, earthy funkiness. Limited release, typically only availanle in the taproom.

Solemn Oath Grumpess

American Stout - 7.5% 80 IBUs
Our American Stout is brewed with copious amounts of roasted barley and American hops for a massive roasted coffee, citrus nose with hints of pine. Full bodied, rich dark chocolate and roasted malt flavors match the big citrus hop character. Food Pairing: Mole enchiladas, five- or ten-year aged cheddar, cookies and cream cheesecake. Limited release.

The Lost Abbey 10 Commandments Ale

Belgian Dark Strong Ale - 9%
A stronger version of our Lost and Found Abbey Ale brewed to a more contemplative alcohol content. Massive in every stretch of the brewing way possible this is the sort of beer that will remind a beer drinker who considers themselves a saint that even saints stray as sinners from time to time. Not for the faint of heart, this beer weighs in at a heavenly 10% ABV and is available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select locations.

Bell's Expedition Stout 2012

Imperial Stout - 10.5%
One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages.

Oskar Blues Ten FIDY

Imperial Stout - 10%
Ten FIDY Imperial Stout - Now (11-21-07) available in cans, our winter seasonal beer is immensely viscous and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It's the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with malted-milk balls and Heaven?s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Its huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer?s mountains of malty goodness. Ten FIDY is the ultimate Rocky Mountain winter warmer, and further proof of the creative muscle of our beloved brewing staff. Look for fourpacks of Ten FIDY in select beer stores in Colorado. Out of state? We hope to send a few cases to a few of our other states in early '08.

Deschutes Obsidian Stout

American Stout - 6.4% 50 IBUs
Black as midnight with a dark head. Deep, black chocolate aroma, wonderfully complex and clean. Hoppy and very bitter in the mouth, a great roasted finish. Sharp and dry. Great balance.

Allagash Fluxus 2013

Porter - 6.4%
Allagash Fluxus is a beer of continuous change. Brewed differently every year to commemorate our anniversary, this year's Fluxus is a porter brewed with a blend of 2-row, coffee and chocolate malts with blood orange pulp and zest. It was hopped using Perle, Tettnang and Glacier varieties. It was then fermented with a Belgian Abbey yeast. The resulting beer is dark brown in color with chocolate and roasted notes throughout the flavor and aroma. The blood orange has a subtle presence in the aroma and the zest expresses itself in the mouth-drying finish by leaving a lingering bitterness. This full bodied ale was the creation of Allagash brewer Patrick Saville, lover of heavy metal, beer and all things dark.

Goose Island Big John

Imperial Stout - 11.5%
Inspired by the epic skyline of Chicago, Goose Island's brewers set out to craft Big John; a tall, bold slugger of a stout that stands out vividly against the little soft beers out there. Epic amounts of roasted malt and an addition of cacoa nibs give Big John a massive chocolate flavor and aroma. With a body as substantial and black as the building to which it pays homage, Big John is sure to inspire a sense of awe with each sip.

Great Divide Oatmeal Yeti Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout - 9.5%
Much like its legendary predecessors, this Yeti is big, bold and dark. The addition of rolled oats softens Yeti's notoriously roasty backbone and the small amount of raisins added in the brew kettle create a unique dark fruit character. Just as admired as those that came before it, Oatmeal Yeti Imperial Stout is a gentle beast. Food pairings: duck poutine, steak au poivre, grilled portabella mushrooms, Stilton blue cheese, banana cream pie

Lakefront 25th Anniversary Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout - 10%
Lakefront plans to release 4 beers to commemorate their 25th Anniversary. The first release was on December 2nd, the company's official birthday. The beer is an imperial stout brewed with chocolate/cocoa nibs, vanilla bean and cherries.

Perennial Fantastic Voyage

Sweet Stout - 8.8%
Fantastic Voyage is a harmonic melange of coconut and Imperial Milk Stout brought to us by brewer Jim Leabig. Loads of coconut, lactose and black malt balance each other to provide flavors reminiscent of chocolate covered coconut with a finish smooth like silk sheets. Best enjoyed while listening to slow jams by candlelight.

Founders Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout - 10.5% 90 IBUs
Brewed with ten varieties of malted barley, this stout is smooth as silk, yet complex and rich in body. Serve this guy at cellar temperature. Put another log on the fire, sit back, and enjoy the friendship of this ultimate winter warmer.

Dark Horse Reserve Special Black Bier Ale

Strong Ale - 7.5%
Conceived in a dimly lit room on a blistery cold night in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but born and raised here in Marshall Michigan. The Reserve Special is the oldest of all beers in the Dark Horse family. It has an incredibly "thick" presence and when poured into a glass its color is so dark it's eerie. The flavors explode onto your taste buds with heavy malt, roast, and chocolate, but stay very balanced. The Reserve Special Black Ale has a hard time being called a stout or porter but it fits nicely into the category of a delicious strong black ale.

Olvisholt Brugghus Lava

Imperial Stout
Smoked imperial stout with a thick brown head. Sweet with chocolate and roasted malt in the flavour. The aftertaste is roasted malt, smoke and warming alcohol. Aroma of smoke chocolate and a bit of alcohol.
