About the Rowing Club
This is a message to individuals on the Alcaltraz Invitational Waitlist.
We recently released 40 spots into the race. Participants have 48 hours to respond to the entry into the race. After that your registration link expires.
We may release another batch of tickets in the future, however I wanted to explain to you how the waitlist will work on race day.
The South End will open SAME DAY REGISTRATION, and I mean "SAME DAY REGISTRATION" on Sunday, September 29, 2013. After we check in all the swimmers we will release any spots of the "no-shows" to same day registrants. We will give preferance to swimmers on the waitlist, in order they are on the waitlist.
While you might think showing up for packet pickup on Saturday, September 28 might help you with this process, it won't.
Same day registration is issued on the same day of the race.
Hope this help answer a lot of questions I have been receiving.
Dear Waitlisted Swimmers -
As it stands now we have over 100 people on the wait list and while we will take same day registration for waitlisted folks once we find out how many no-shows we have, there is NO guarantee that you will get a slot.
I know you've been practicing and want to swim this Sunday so one guaranteed alternative is to sign up for the RCP Tiburon Mile swim (actually 1.2 miles). This well-run event goes from Angel Island back to Tiburon and proceeds go to support Hospice by the Bay a non-profit who provide care and support for those in the final stages of life.
Registration will be open only through 11:59 tomorrow evening Thursday September 26, 2013 so don't delay. You can register at
Enjoy this great alternative BUT please remember to sign-up early for the 2014 South End Alcatraz Invitational.
In order to purchase these tickets in installments, you'll need an Eventbrite account. Log in or sign up for a free account to continue.
