Join us for live music, entertainment and the honoring of Clifton Johnson and Rosie Lee Hooks, our “Community Towers,” pillars in our community who, like WVTC, are making a substantial difference in South LA and around the world.
Since 1996, WVTC has been a leader in providingcting and theatrical performance workshops for at-risk youth in Watts and South Los Angeles. We infuse our culturally diverse community with a tolerance for differences through the development and production of thought-provoking works such as "Meet Me @Metro," a site-specific extravaganza performed on and around the Los Angeles Metro transit system.
In a community constantly struggling with poverty and adversity, WVTC inspires and provides positive alternatives to the status quo. With your support, we can continue to bring the community together!
For more information, please click on "Contact the Host" on the right side of this page and send us a message, and we will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you for your support and see you at CAAM on May 16!

She has worked for the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs for 20 years. Since 2003, she has served as the Director of the Watts Towers Arts Center, the Tour Program for Watts Towers and the Charles Mingus Youth Arts Center. Before taking this position, Hooks was the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Director of Festivals and Gallery Theatre. There, in addition to conceptualizing and producing almost 300 multicultural, multi-disciplined and culturally specific festivals, special events and theatre programs, and utilizing her background in early childhood education, she developed the now 20 year-old Jazz Mentorship Program, which exposes young people to America’s indigenous art form. An accomplished actor and singer for more than 35 years, Hooks is also a film documentarian having produced more than 20 films documenting the culture of various ethnic communities in Southern California.
