About this event

Series Description:

Fundamentals of Cataloging – our foundational series of in-person training sessions – is returning to a popular and complex topic – serials cataloging! This set of online sessions will focus on the issues, fields, and elements to be considered when cataloging periodicals. Please note that we will cover both physical and electronic serials records. Each session includes dedicated practice and searching time, brief quizzes, and other learning engagement opportunities.

Session Description:

This third session in the Serials series will focus on the key changes that the new cataloging standard, RDA (Resource Description and Access), brings to serials cataloging considerations.

Through this session, attendees will have the opportunity to...

• Understand how RDA changes continuing resource cataloging

• Explore additional factors to consider when cataloging electronic serials

• Discuss provider-neutral standards for electronic resources

• Identify and practice copy cataloging from quality serial records

Who Should Attend:

Individuals who are responsible for maintaining catalog records for periodicals (especially those new to these tasks) and anyone with an interest in the topic.
