Description

The 3rd Annual “Coahoma to Sonoma County Blues Festival” Takes Place in Petaluma

Coahoma County Mississippi, nestled in the Mississippi Delta, is, and has been home to an amazing array of Blues Musicians. Clarksdale, Mississippi is the focal point for many a legend. John Lee Hooker was born there, Ike Turner, Sam Cooke, and Little Junior Parker to name a few. Muddy Waters, although born in Rolling Fork, was raised in Clarksdale. Close by in Indianola came the King of the Blues. . . B.B. King. On the outskirts of Clarksdale you’ll find the famed ‘CROSSROADS” where Robert Johnson reportedly sold his soul to the devil.

On Monday, September 1st, 2014, from noon to 9pm, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Bowker Family Productions and KRSH Radio present the 3rd annual Coahoma to Sonoma County Blues Festival, an event totally dedicated to bringing some of the most vital blues from the “Birthplace of the Blues”, Clarksdale, Mississippi (Coahoma County) to Petaluma, CA (Sonoma County).

The festival gets underway at noon, FREE TO ALL AGES, until 3pm in the Beer Sanctuary with the Patrick Sweany Band. No stranger to Sonoma County Patrick has played many KRSH events including the Sonoma County Blues Festival. Patrick hails from the Detroit area, now lives in Nashville and has four albums out, two produced by his long time collaborator Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. Sweany’s music embraces the deep soul of the south including a massive dose of Mississippi Hill Country blues. www.patricksweany.com

The evening show starts at 6pm in the LaguMiniAmphitheaterette. Tickets are $12, and available only at www.lagunitas.com. Doors @ 4:20. 21 and over.

Opening the show is 15 year old Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. At the age of 8 he began playing the drums. A year later he took up the bass. The ripe old age of 11 it was the lead guitar and by 14 he mastered all of those instruments and added vocals. The rich gospel music along with the blues he heard in his Delta neighborhood was what possessed Kingfish’s soul to play the Blues. Kingfish will be backed up by some of Sonoma County’s best Blues players…Gary Silva, Derek Irving and Randy Bermudes. www.christonekingfishingram.com

At 7:15 Lightnin’ Malcolm returns to the festival. He is one of the major exponents of Mississippi’s Hill Country Blues. Malcolm’s presence in the Blues world has grown considerably in the past year with the North Mississippi All-Stars adding him to their band. Malcolm’s drummer is one of the two 15 year olds featured this year. Stud is the grandson of Delta Blues legend, T. Model Ford. From classes at the Delta Blues Museum’s music program and Red’s Juke Joint, Stud’s dedication and talent is a testament to what is so special about what is currently going on in the Delta. www.lightninmalcolm.net

This is an about page for a Brewery and for a Beer, or whatever. We guess that it speaks to the idea of whatever people want to think we are or aren’t or should or shouldn’t be, but, after all, it’s just about trying to sift through the incessant nonsensical mumble of it all. And then there’s you, oh noble visitor, trying to interpret it all. What about us? words: spackle, crane, crepuscular. Do they mean anything? Sure. Is it relevant? , mostly nonsensical blather in a wasted attempt , but no one reads anymore, right? At least, except for You. ThankYouVeryMuch.
