Description

Considered French director Jaques Tati's masterpiece, Playtime is a multi-layered film that combines visual humour, creative sound-effects and a notoriously enormous set to deliver a futuristic vision of Paris, with all the constraints and order of a modern urban lifestyle, which is at odds with the non-conformity of human nature and interaction.

Playtime

"It directs us to look around at the world we live in (the one we keep building), then at each other, and to see how funny that relationship is and how many brilliant possibilities we still have in a shopping-mall world that perpetually suggests otherwise; to look and see that there are many possibilities and that the play between them, activated by the dance of our gaze, can become a kind of comic ballet, one that we both observe and perform..." - Jonathan Rosenbaum

Join us for this unique screening, with comfy chairs, bean bags, cosy blankets, free nibbles and affordable pay bar.

Friday 16 May, bar opens 6.45pm, film starts 7.15pm
