Emerging Leaders Certificate Program - Saturday, October 27, 2012
The Emerging Leaders Leadership Development program will equip early career managers to be able to make decisions with a sharper outlook on the corporate strategy. Business leaders with five years or less experience and UT graduate students are encouraged to participate. Sessions are held three times a year and always on Saturday.
Session 1: The Business Case for Sustainability
Faculty: David Bechtold, Ph.D.

Sustainability has evolved from the notion of “doing well by doing good” into an integral part of corporate strategy. Managing to the “triple bottom line”, where business management is held accountable for financial, environmental, and social outcomes, is becoming a standard practice for many companies in the United States as well as around the world. This workshop describes the tools currently used by companies as they craft sustainable strategic plans and reporting on outcomes.

Faculty: Donald Flagg, Ph.D.
12 noon – 1 p.m. Lunch • 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Workshop
As the field of Finance continues to evolve and financial engineering leads to creative new products, numerous derivatives have been created. Derivatives have had incredible growth with the size and scope of businesses increasing both domestically and in lucrative international markets. Unfortunately as the derivative market grows derivatives have also becomes more difficult to understand and too often misused to the peril of the firm. This workshop examines the proper use and regulation of derivatives.
