Safe Humane Chicago welcomes you to the first Rescue 2 Rescue Kickball Tournament!

Who: Safe Humane Chicago's mission is to create safe and humane communities by inspiring positive relationships between people and animals. We are inviting Chicagoland area animal rescues to compete in a bracket style kickball tournament for cash prizes. Make a team of 10 players; not all have to be affiliated/employed by the rescue (but one is required). Invite your friends, family, rescue volunteers. That way all rescues, big and small, can compete.

What: Go head to head with other rescues to vie for the prize of Rescue 2 Rescue Kickball Champion and a cash prize for your rescue. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. All entrant teams get a valuable gift bag full of goodies to help their rescue just for participating. LIMITED TO 16 TEAMS. Teams must have 10 players at registration/check-in to qualify. That comes out to $10 per person. Wear your rescue shirts or similar color for team spirit!

When: Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 12-4pm.

Where: Lawrence ball fields. Exit Lawrence East at Lake Shore Drive. Fields are north of the Wilson skate park and just west of Montrose Dog Beach.

Why: Safe Humane Chicago is an alliance of non-traditional partners that recognize the connections between animal abuse and interpersonal violence and the benefits of the human-animal bond.  Our programs focus on education, advocacy and second chances. With this tournament, we hope to make better connections with our partner rescues, and facilitate new relationships to benefit companion animals in the judiciary system, victims of abuse, neglect, etc. We also hope that this will bring the rescue group community together, to meet, mingle, and exchange ideas to better the process of animal adoptions across the city of Chicago by networking our knowledge and resources, Rescue 2 Rescue.

Rules: Prize money must be used for animal rescue use only: medical, transport, daily care. NO DOGS ALLOWED AT THE EVENT. We all love our dogs but this is not the place for them. If a team brings a dog, they will be disqualified with no refunds. NO ALCOHOL. SHC has secured the rental of the ball fields with Chicago Park District and does not want to jeopardize this agreement. Once your roster has been turned in at on-site registration NO LATER THAN NOON, you cannot add team members, ie no additional members from teams cut during the bracket play. Please email a roster by July 20 with shirt sizes for players: Yvonne at y-albert@northwestern.edu.
