Event Details

LA dance group "Retro" invites you to the 10 year Anniversary celebration with Dinner, live performances and dancing with a special kick off for the  27th Annual Lithuanian Fair.

Dance group "Retro", a gorgeous staple of the LA Lithuanian  Community for the last 10 years, will present a fun-filled gala...From 7pm -12 Midnight.

The celebration will be at the famous  Cicada Club  The Historic 1928 Art Deco Oviatt Building 617 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014

Situated in the famed Art Deco Oviatt building, downtown Los Angeles' historic Lalique palace, the Cicada Club is a place fitting for experiencing an elegant romantic evening.

Originally built as a top-of-the-line haberdashery in 1928, The Cicada Club retains much of the original design that the French designers and artisans of the time created. This spacious nightclub features fine dining on the main floor as well as the mezzanine that overlooks the entire club, an Art Deco mezzanine bar and lounge plus patio seating in the forecourt lobby.

No setting in the entire city is more spectacular. The opulent dining and showroom, with giant old-growth oak columns that feature pairs of angels holding bells and gold-leaf ceilings, fine vintage entertainment and patrons dressed in their elegant evening attire.

Cicada Club will transport you back in time to the glamorous days of Hollywood's golden age of nightclubs. The finest vintage dance  and entertainment will be presented in one of Los Angeles' best examples of Art Deco architecture.

LA Dance Group "RETRO"

LA dance group "RETRO" is a part of LITHUANIAN HERITAGE  SOCIETY.

"Retro" was started by Sigita Barysiene in 2003 to socialize, mill around, and at the same learn to dance, so that everyone felt good, both the older and the younger, the taller and the shorter, the more slender and the more chubby.  Most important, to have fun and know how whirl in a waltz not just to the right, but also to the left.  Learn not only to polka, but also to dance the foxtrot, tango and waltz.

The troupe performed for Lithuanians not only in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego, but also on tour in Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto, Chicago.  It also traveled to Kaunas for the 2007 Folk Dance Festival in Lituania.  That included a performance in the New York Club, Vilnius.  Inspired by fond memories, the dancers performed at Boston Dance Festival 2012.

LHS is a nonprofit, tax exempt IRS 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting and teaching Lithuanian arts (dance, music, visual arts, theater, film etc.), developing Lithuanian cultural awareness through Community Outreach, Education (e.g., visual and performing arts, “Language Café,”, etc.), and a social meeting club for all Lithuanians and supporters of Lithuanian culture in Los Angeles, CA.
