Have you ever wanted to take part in the Freihofer's Run for Women — or any other type of road race — and wondered how best to prepare for the experience? Well here's your opportunity!
On Tuesday, March 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The Record's Community Media Lab (501 Broadway, Troy), organizers of the Freihofer's Run for Women will present a free, one-hour program entitled, "10 Weeks to Your Best Freihofer's Time."
The session will not only address how to get started in a running program and remain injury free, but also provide helpful tips to those with previous running experience. A comprehensive overview of the 2nd annual Freihofer’s Training Challenge, a 10-week program launching March 19 that helps women of all ages and abilities prepare to run a 5K, will also be discussed. Last year's Challenge drew more than 400 participants.
Presenters will include Run for Women Event Director George Regan; Kristen Hislop, a USAT certified triathlon coach and AFAA certified personal trainer; local injury prevention specialist Dr. Tim Maggs; and Christine Cooley, a certified family and gastroenterolgy nurse practitioner with more than 15 years' experience in health and wellness promotion.
Free parking is available at the The Record's parking lot, as well as in the parking garage located across the street -- http://bit.ly/yK3uLd
